Would we make Ipoh our base? Too early to call as many places to visit before we make a decision. Would enjoy being based here if we could find a suitable condominium to rent. The new SE7EN@ Jalan Tun Dr Ismail could fill the bill when complete but living areas in plans still narrow
Just visited St Johns Anglican Church. A dear friend of ours was the Priest there for a few years from 1984. His name is on a board in the entrance. Took many pics to send to him. Sure to bring back memories.
Rest of day has been spent revisiting places we have enjoyed while living here. The changing Ipoh could not be demonstrated more than by the following experience. Went to The Happy 8 Retreat Café and ordered 2 Lemon Teas. Good tea but cost 27.60RM. Shocked by cost we repaired to Kong Heng where we ordered 2 lemon Teas costing 5.20RM, a plate of Popiah at 4RM and an Asam Laksa at 4RM. Total cost of lunch and tea was 13.20RM (less than cost of one lemon tea at the trendy Happy 8). Needless to say we were the only people in the Happy 8 and the Kong Heng was packed. Maybe Ipoh will stay unchanged for longer than we think.
It will be sad to leave Ipoh but exciting destinations are calling us and we just cannot resist!
Tomorrow off to Malacca, an Old Portuguese colony. Staying in an old shop house on the river. Can hardly wait!
