Anniversary Tipple - May 29th 2015

Had a great day yesterday. Lazy start and then realising we would need another bottle of French Merlot to celebrate we headed off on foot for Sin Wang Heng Heritage where inexpensive wine was purchased earlier.

This was easier said than done and we headed off in the wrong direction to start with but mobile Google Maps helped and after 20 minutes’ walk past bike repairers, food stalls, car dealers, service stations and many other business’s we arrived. Hot day and we were glad of the rest. The man remembered our earlier visit and went straight to the red wine! Bought 2 bottles of 2012 French Merlot for 28RM or $9.90 Australian each. They are 44RM plus anywhere else.

On the walk home we stopped at a Bakery specializing in Yam Puffs and Sweet Potato Puffs. They were still warm and we bought one of each at 2RM or 71 cents Australian apiece. Layers of warm puff pastry surrounded a generous dollop of Yam or Sweet potato. Eating these was as good as it gets! But just around corner we struck The Ha Ha Pancake food truck. For 1RM or 35cents Australian each we ordered a Ground Nut one and a Coconut one. They were hot and consisted of a very thin crispy pancake with peanuts or coconut inside and folded whilst hot. At this point we lost control and Erica had eaten hers before I could take a pic and only half of my peanut one was left.

Had planned dinner at Purple Cane Restaurant in shopping complex below but we decided to get takeaway from there instead and eat in the privacy of our place. The Purple Cane food is super healthy, low fat, low salt and I chose 2 vegetarian dishes. Chinese Kale/Veg and Abalone Mushrooms with 2 servings of Green Tea Rice. Cost 41.15RM or $14.70 Australian. Erica served it up in our 2 utility dish/plates and apart from looking sensational it was a gourmet’s delight. The Subtle Tea infused flavours coupled with the “Meaty” Abalone Mushrooms were sensational and the Kale blanched to perfection with garlic based sauce. The tea leaves were evident in the rice and all in all accompanied by French Merlot and Australian Chardonnay another great day ended on a high note.

Just bumped into Cheah our friend from Yit Seng Realty. He is manning The Shore Sales display down below for 3 days. He and Steve Lee are coming up to our place on Saturday to run through pricing etc. for The Shore. They will give us more detail about pricing, leasing and power and water costs.

Went along river to Red Square to look for Kamahl our friendly Tri Shaw rider but to no avail. Scoffed down a Durian Yoghurt Ice cream and returned to The Shore for late lunch. Erica had Penang Famous Fried Kuey Teow and I had a Penang Curry Me. Cost 24RM or $8.50 Australian. Finished off with Strawberry and Longan Ice Dessert for 9.50RM or $3.40 Australian.
