Last day at The Shore - June 1st 2015

First day of winter in Australia but still a warm day in Melaka top of 32°C.

Last night had great food again below us Erica eating Spicy Chicken Drumstick and I Pork Mince and Sausage Noodles taken with a generous dish of Pickled Green Chillies that I have grown quite fond of. Finished off with some sweet Yellow Watermelon we had bought earlier

Today is our last day at our fabulous condominium in The Shore. After nearly a month it seems like “home” to us. We have really experienced what it would be like for an Australian retiree/expat to rent or buy in this building.

We have used many of the shops and food outlets below us. The convenience of having great food  in Lot 10 Hutong , mobile phone shops like Coco Mobile, glasses shops like Young Look Optic, Mr DIY where one can buy just about anything DIY, Fitness Concept who did our Tanita tests, Purple Cane Tea Restaurant, the Shore Oceanarium ,Tangs Department Store, and Aeon Wellness make living here so easy. There are about 100 shops in total in the shore Shopping Gallery.

Must mention the smartly dressed Security Guards that are to be seen everywhere day and night. Over our time here we have got to recognise many of them, and they us, smiling as we pass by. This level of security would make even the most nervous retiree feel comfortable here.

Every day during our stay in Melaka we have been welcomed by locals and treated with a level of respect not seen in Australia since the 1950’s. We have felt comfortable at all times while in Melaka and have no hesitation declaring it and The Shore (our pick in Melaka) a great place to retire to.

Took some last rooftop pics of Melaka to add to the ones we took on our first day here.

There are still Condominiums for sale in The Shore Tower 3A at affordable prices and 12 month furnished leases will be available soon for those who wish to trial living here before they buy. Cheah Yew Mun is the contact

Had a Japanese Lunch at Sushi Zannmai in the Shopping Gallery below for a change. It was delightful with Tempura Squid, Kinoko Butter Mushrooms and a Spicy Ebi Roll. Japanese food has such delicate flavours when compared to the bolder Nyonya spices.

Thai food tomorrow in Chiang Mai. Oh the hard life of a poor retiree couple in South East Asia!
